Seminary Day in Argentina
Nearly 500 people crowded into the large hall at the Concordia Seminary in Buenas Aires, Argentina today, so many they even had to set up chairs outside. They all came for one thing, to celebrate what God is doing in Argentina.
Today is Seminary Day in the Lutheran Church of Argentina, and people from around the country have come to attend the service and picnic in Buenas Aires. Packed against the walls and into the crowded hall they unite their voices in loud songs, the Word is proclaimed from the pulpit and the Lutheran Church of Argentina celebrates its seminary and missions.
This year however, there is even more to celebrate, Argentina is hosting the first ever International Latin American Deaconess Convention, together with LCMS World Mission and LCMS World Relief and Human Care, and delegates from across Latin America are in attendance. From the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Panama, Venezuela, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Chile, and Argentina, the women are given the grand tour of the seminary and seated in honor during the service. The service follows the theme of diaconal ministry under the banner “At the Feet of Jesus.”
An incredible amount of food has been prepared for everyone in attendance; the traditional Argentinian “asado”, a massive array of delicious grilled meat.
After the uplifting event the members of the convention travel back to the center for the evening, where they listened to presentations from both Olga Groh and Paraguay.
